Abstract

The article provides information about the All-Russian conference with international participants, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the great Russian musician. The extensive geography of participants is outlined: Russian cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Petrozavodsk, Ufa, Veliky Novgorod, Staraya Russa, Murmansk, etc.), as well as Washington, Minsk, Almaty, Ashgabat. It is systematized the range of issues related to the Russian genius’ personality and creativity. The article traces the problems of messages that formed three groups conditionally. The first one, consisted of reports, devoted to Rachmaninov’s contemporaries (S.A. Koussevitzky, E.F. Gnesina, G.L. Catoire, N.G. Struve. A.V. Zataevich), their contacts with the composer. The second one, the most numerous, is directly related to Rachmaninov’s works (sacred, symphonic music, operas, transcriptions of romances, repeated editions of various genres Rachmaninov’s own works, etc.). The third group includes a number of messages that are not included in the previous heading (“Rachmaninov and the musical life of his time”, “Rachmaninov’s Lectures”, “The image of Rachmaninov in the biographical series “The Life of Remarkable People”). The article comments two discussions that spontaneously arose during the conference, and also offers presentations of new publications.
