Creative Method of Karlheinz Stockhausen: the Form-Schemes, Formulae and Superformulae in the Composer's Works

Abstract

In this article the term "creative method" implies a compositional
method as the most significant and interesting
aspect of the German avantgarde composer's activity. The
subject of the study are form schemes, formulae of different
opuses, and mainly super formula of the opera cycle
LICHT, as the basic structural components of Stockhausen's
works over four decades. As a result of the investigation,
we must admit that complementary relationship of different
compositional approaches helps representing the structural categories
of the composer's creative method in the form of
the hierarchically harmonious, uniform, invariable system only
in some aspects.
