Variant-Variational Method of Developing the Oral Classical Tradition in Turkmen Music

Abstract

The article defines the regularity of the oral tradition priority of variant-variation type of development in Turkmen classical music. It is conditioned by the artistic and aesthetic principles of oriental music. Variant development filigree is associated with the canonicity of monodic professional musiс various aspects. A rich arsenal of methods of variation has been formed in the folk and professional music of the Turkmens over the centuries. Variant development permeates all compositional-scale levels of folk instrumental works-saz. The analyzes of dutar sazs from the cycle “Kyrklar”, “Garry Jelil”, the tuyduk piece “Bady saba” make possible to trace the action of this type of developing at the level of the whole work, within the main sections of the pieces – within the limits of smaller pieces.
Variation, improvisation of developing are not spontaneous, they are strictly regulated by one of the most important principles of forming Turkmen traditional classical music – mobile and stable elements of the form interaction.
