Abstract

The article is devoted to the identification of the main trends in the implementation of folklore in the space of artistic culture of the Silver Age. It is noted that the widely developed Russian theme becomes an integral facet of the artistic image of the World during this period. The active interest of artists of various styles in folk art, observed in literature, painting, and music, is emphasized. There is an expansion of the range of folklore genres used by the authors. In the center of their attention are the “extreme” points of the folklore-genre range – archaic (I. Stravinsky, N. Roerich, A. Block) and modernity (I. Stravinsky, A. Block, V. Bryusov, N. Goncharova, A. Lentulov, M. Larionov, P. Konchalovsky and others).

The main trends in the implementation of folklore in the composerʼs work are: continuation of the “Kuchkist” traditions (N. Rimsky-Korsakov); in line with Romanticism (S. Rachmaninov); in the perspective of symbolism (A. Lyadov, N. Cherepnin); sacralization of folklore (S. Rachmaninov and the New Moscow School); neofolclorism of I. Stravinsky. The influence of the creative discoveries of the Silver Age on the domestic music of the second half of the twentieth century is emphasized.
