Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of cultural interaction between Buryats and Semeyskys in the field of childrenʼs musical creativity. Buryats are the indigenous ethnic group of Transbaikalia. Semeyskys are Old Believers who were exiled in the XVIII century to the uninhabited regions of Siberia and became Russian old-timers of the region. The culture of the Old Believers remained archaic until the beginning of the XX century as a result of ideological features and way of life. Semeyskys were forced, while developing new lands, to communicate with the Buryats on territorial and economic issues. So, the processes of cognition and assimilation of the cultures of the two peoples from each other took place.

The practices of childrenʼs musical creativity developed within the traditional cultures of the Buryats and Semeyskys. Some forms of Semeyskyʼs musical practices were used in Buryat children and vice versa, to the time of the arrival of Soviet power in Transbaikalia. The process of updating childrenʼs practices is largely due to the promotion of new types of culture in the life of the peoples of Transbaikalia, as well as their intertwining with the traditional ethnic culture of the Buryats and Russian old-timers.

The article is based on scientific literature, as well as the testimonies of informants and personal observations on modern processes in the field of childrenʼs musical creativity. The analysis of childrenʼs musical practices helps to understand the process of interaction between the Buryat and Semeyskys cultures, their conditionality with different types of culture. The separation of childrenʼs musical practices into a separate system in the context of the culture of the Semeyskys and Buryats will contribute to the search for optimal modern cultural and pedagogical approaches in the field of childrenʼs musical creativity.
