Introduction of Harpsichord into Russian Musical Culture of the 16th-17th Centuries

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the history of appearance and distribution of harpsichord playing in Russia. Studying of numerous published sources of 16-18th centuries leads us to the conclusion that harpsichord occupied certain place in the culture of different groups in the society. The author reviews main phases of introducin of harpsichord and related keyboard instruments into Russian musical life, up to the point of appearance of the piano.
