The Genre of Magnifi cat in the Organ Music of Daniel Roth

Abstract

The article studies the organ music of contemporary French organist-composer Daniel Roth on an example of a genre of Magnifi cat. Interpretation of this genre demonstrated in a context of history of the French organ music and specifi city of composer’s style. The individual traits of musical language–the products of modal harmony and sound color of organs by Cavaille-Coll, have infl uenced composer’s aesthetics.
