Abstract

The purpose of the article is to update attention to the problem of generalizing musical and ethnographic experience in the study, recording and reproduction of local folklore traditions, including those carried out by folk singers and leaders of original singing groups. The main objective of the work is to analyze the multifaceted creativity of the talented folk singer, connoisseur of antiquity – Maria Timofeevna Yakovenko (born 1934) from the village of Verkhnyaya Pokrovka, Krasnogvardeisky district, Belgorod region.
Particular attention is paid to identifying the mental qualities of M.T.’s personality. Yakovenko, allowing her, despite her advanced age, to fruitfully carry out musical, performing, collecting, organizational and educational activities, to compose songs and poems about the history and fate of the Fatherland, her native village, the creators and keepers of the folklore traditions of the Russian people.
The article examines the performing skills of Upper Pokrovsky singers, the musical and stylistic structure of folk songs, as well as some aspects of the concert and educational practice of the local folk group. These musical and ethnographic materials, intended for a wide range of users, are presented in the electronic map data bank “Ethnocultural Heritage of the Belgorod Region”.
