Synesthesia as a Method of Developing Artistic Perception of Students of a Children Music School

Abstract

The article describes the methodology of artistic and creative development of the students of school of arts, that is based on the method of synesthesia – an appeal to associations, intersensory analogies which arise with the fine art and music simultaneous influence. The developed technique allows to achieve a holistic view of an art work, to reveal its figurative nature. The process of artistic and creative development of students of children art schools is not limited to the analysis of a piece of music, its expressive means. Understanding the emotional nature of art requires different approaches, where the synesthetic approach, based on the formation of color associations and parallels both in music and in the visual arts, is one of the most effective.


This article deals with the role of the synesthetic impact of arts various types on the development of artistic creativity and perception, sensual and emotional performance of musical works by a student. The authors consider the relationship between music and painting in the process of holistic artistic and creative development. The synesthetic approach, according to the authors, is based on teaching methods of various levels of complexity – from emotional-associative to comparative-analytical.


The article presents the synesthetic methodology for developing artistic perception of children made by the authors, the sequence of comparative analysis of art and music works, various types of exercises that allow to use synesthetic methods in practice. The authors show the influence of artistic images, color-musical associations on a full-fledged, sensual perception of art by a child, understanding of the community and distinctive features of its various types, which leads to an increase in the level of artistic and creative development in general.
