Abstract

The article is devoted to one sample of the composerʼs creativity of the professor of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky Alexei Konstantinovich Lebedev (1924–1993), Professor of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Music University. Famous performer and teacher, founder of the special tuba class at the Conservatory, Lebedev is one of the greatest representatives of the Russian school of playing the tuba and trombone, created by V.M. Blazhevich. Lebedev owns original concert compositions for trumpet and trombone, which are included in the repertoire, they became widely known and encouraged other authors to create compositions for these instruments, those would seem not to be concert instruments at all.

The author of the article, a trombonist and teacher, presenting the work of A.K. Lebedev-Concerto for tuba and Piano No. 1 a-moll (Op. 1947), which has not yet been studied and requires special consideration, gives a brief description in comparison with the famous Concerto by V.M. Blazhevich.

The author tells about Lebedevʼs special understanding of the concert genre drama, which determines the artistic value of these works. The article emphasizes that in Lebedev’s work, based on the experience of Blazhevich, new possibilities of creating images and performing techniques, recorded in his concert compositions, were revealed.

The relevance of this article is due to the acute demand for the formation of an integral system of knowledge about the essence of the art of playing wind instruments, first of all, in order to improve the process of professional training of musicians-performers. There are still many gaps in the performing art of playing the trombone and tuba, one of which is the lack of research on the works of A.K. Lebedev.

Keywords: traditions of Blazhevich, new trends in the development of the concert genre for tuba and trombone, characteristics of the Concerto for tuba by A.K. Lebedev.
