Abstract

The article deals with the connections between harmony and form in the music of C. Debussy, shown, in particular, on the cadence system in the prelude “La fille aux cheveux de lin”. With the general contours of the ternary form, the piece consists of a number of relatively brief fragments, each of which is closed by its own cadence. The important trend in this case is the composer’s desire to reduce the activity of the ascending leading note in cadences by various ways.

Keywords: Claude Debussy, musical form, harmony, cadence, prelude “La fille aux cheveux de lin”.
